PSA

IT'S PERFECTLY OK TO NOT SHOWER EVERY DAY.
Why, you ask?
Well here's why:

1. Water conservation.
During the long brutal summer month's in the great state of Texas, there is typically a water shortage. Meaning, there's a muthafuckin drought. Conserving water is important. I choose to not shower every day, especially during summer because it's hot as balls and I'd like to do my part and conserve water like to mother nature loving hippie that I am sometimes.

2. Preservation of the skins natural oils.
By washing your hair and skin every day, you're stripping away natural oils that are normal and healthy. Excessive showering can dry out your skin by getting rid of protective oils. Also, as weird as this might sound, there may be good bacteria on our skin that can help protect from infections. Kinda the same way that good bacteria helps our intestines function.

3. I don't stink.
I know when it's necessary to shower and wash all the important nooks & crannies. Like, if I randomly do any sort of physical activity that leaves me sweatin' like a whore in church, you better believe I'm gonna shower. But if I'm just sitting at my desk typing away, there is really no need to shower. I also have a couple of important people in my life who will definitely not hesitate to tell me if I smell like the inside of a dumpster.

4. Dry shampoo exists.
Thank the heavens for this life changing hair product. First of all, it sounds nuts, but the more you wash out all the oils in your hair, the faster they come back. This means that if you wash your hair daily or multiple times a day, your hair is going to get greasy lookin real fuckin fast. Secondly, there is no secondly. So, by training my hair (aka lack of washing regularly) I'm preventing the grease monster from raping my scalp. This is where the dry shampoo comes in. On the in-between days, dry shampoo. That shit absorbs oils in your hair without damaging anything. I'd personally like to thank the inventor of dry shampoo. My life has been forever changed.

I showered last night. I probably won't shower tonight. There's even a possibility I won't shower the next day. Who knows? As long as I don't look dirty or greasy right? BUT there are a few exceptions when it is absolutely necessary to shower.

1. Exercise. Sweat is gross.
2. Sex. Before, during, and/or after.
3. After a visit to the salon. Too many products, not enough hair.
4. Menstruation. Need I say more?

So the moral of this story? Don't feel like you HAVE to shower every day because "society says so". Amen.

In addition, there may be good bacteria on our skin that protects us from infection, in the same way good bacteria helps our intestines function well
